Reporters ask Afghanistan's interim leader about Osama bin Laden, but he refuses to speculate on the terrorist's whereabouts, despite an apparently recent videotape of bin Laden being shown on television and word the wanted man may have escaped to Pakistan.
Leaders in Afghanistan say they think Osama bin Laden is alive and well and hiding in Paksitan.
A low-level official in the interim government says the terrorist is being sheltered by a radical islamic group, but the group denies the charge.
Meantime, the bin Laden is again being seen on videotape praising the destruction leveled on the US September eleventh.
The al-Qaida leader refers to America as ``head of the infidels.''

State police are investigating a deadly confrontation between a Pittsylvania County man and a Chatham police officer.
It happened just outside Chatham in a house on Chalk Level Road, about 12-thirty this morning.
A town police officer and a county deputy went to the house to charge 31-year-old James Elvin Wood in a domestic dispute.
Police say Wood lunged at the officers with a knife, cutting the hand of Chatham Sargeant Wayne Mayhew.
Mayhew shot him once in the chest. Wood died at the scene.
Chatham's Mayor says it was self-defense. But he's placed Sargeant Mayhew on paid leave.

The code was written in three pages of numbers by Thomas Beale, who allegedly buried the treasure.
Legend places the twenty million dollar treasure somewhere at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Bedford County.

Good afternoon folks and welcome to the Thursday ticker that begins with some high school news from the Blue Ridge district.
Next year that already ultra-tough district will expand to eleven teams as Cave Spring and the new Hidden Valley high school join the existing nine members.
[GO TO PINNACLE PAGE 1001]
As a result, the district steering committee chaired by Lord Botetourt principal Alan Brenner has decided to split the district into two divisions for the next school year.
The split is based on enrollment numbers with these, the six most populated schools, in one division.

The others five schools will play in their own Blue Ridge division. Each divisional member will play each other twice, and then play schools in the other division once.
This setup is good for all sports - EXCEPT football. And it will likely change after the next school year.
