That's because the water level here at Carvins Cove has dropped 18 feet below the spillway, well below the average for this time of year.

Water levels got so low city officials had to enact mandatory restrictions.
That drastic measure could come again if water levels drop 26 feet below the spillway.

State police reported DOZENS of weather-related accidents throughout the region ... ALL were minor.

Carolina Quality Components, which is a new company, is building a plant and will provide wood panelling for several local companies. Jurors were bused there today for a look at the hockey rink where Thomas Junta allegedly killed the father of a young hockey player.
Both fathers 10 year old boys were playing hockey when an argument between Junta and the other father turned violent.
Junta will claim self defense which could be tough to prove ....he had at least one inch and 100 pounds on the victim.

A pop-star faces a criminal charge tonight.
Backstreet Boy Nick Carter was charged with resisting arrest without violence Tuesday night.
Carter was at a bar when a fight broke out.
Police say they found him in a loud argument with a woman.
Carter was charged when he ignored officers trying to get him to calm down.
The 21-year-old was released with his promise to appear in court March fourth.

The Roanoke College men's basketball program raised a grand total of one thousand 867 dollars for the American Cancer Society and the V- Foundation with it's raffle and silent auction.

in front of his former colleg teammate and good friend Richard and Robin Goodpasture.

23 points for Asheville.
The Dazzle had three players in double figures, one of them was Jeff Boese, he drives hard to the iron and scores.
Artie Griffin led all Roanoke players with 20 points but Asheville gets the win 78-75, the Dazzle is now 9 and 13.

Dirk Nowitzki (noh-VIHT'-skee) had 30 points and 16 rebounds for Dallas, which hadn't lost since December tenth at Utah. Steve Nash had 19 points for the Mavericks, who led 74-to-68 before missing 16 consecutive shots in the second half.

The Wild Pig is originally from China... It's considered to be among the most intelligent creatures in the world- as well as among the friendliest.
Nine piglets were born in Berlin's zoo on Christmas Day and two more made their way into the world one week later.. on New Year's day.
