A Roanoke man is charged with murder and felony child neglect in the death of his infant son. A grand jury handed up the indictments today against 19-year old Gregory Lewis Bruce, Senior. Police say an autopsy showed Bruce's one month old son died in October from what is commonly called "shaken baby syndrome".

A Charlottesville man will pay for the murder of his stepfather with 45-years in prison.

23-year old Charlie English was today sentenced today for the robbery and murder of Ralph English. The 61-year old was strangled and robbed by his stepson and two of his friends on New Year's Eve 2000.
English and prosecutors reached a plea agreement earlier this year, just one week before he was scheduled to go on trial. The young man pled guilty to first degree murder and robbery. Defense attorneys argued the killing was the result of many years of abuse and addictions to drugs and alcohol. But prosecutors and Judge William Alexander didn't buy it.

Governor-elect Mark Warner says he will replace the entire state Parole Board within a month of his inauguration -- and may abolish it altogether.
Warner told The Associated Press today that he will appoint new members to each of the board's five seats.
He also questioned the need to pay board members a salary of about 90-thousand dollars a year... six years after the state abolished parole for all convictions secured after 1996.

The senior from Louisa had 25 points. She also hit 6 three pointers.

((William Fleming Graduate Steve Robinson gave Florida State good reason to keep him after his unranked Seminoles ended number one ranked Duke's 22 game wining streak. North Carolina State was unranked when the Wolfpack beat fourth ranked Virginia. Both games prove, with the accept ion on UNC, that the ACC is extremely tough. Workers are putting the finishing touches on a new facility for area gymnasts.

The Roanoke Academy of Gymnastics hopes to move into a new 700- thousand dollar building next month.
The new facility near Tanglewood Mall will include 30-thousand dollars worth of new equipment and double the space of the academy's current building.

Dickerson hopes the new building will allow the academy to expand its existing programs.
The academy offers instruction to around five hundred students including three high school cheerleading teams.
