Dan River plans to expand its facilities in Brookneal and Danville, creating 135 jobs.
Word on that came last month, but today, Governor Gilmore announced the company will receive 175-thousand dollars.. from the state's Tobacco Region Opportunity Funds .. to help assist in the expansion.
Dan River is closing plants in Georgia and South Carolina and moving those jobs to Virginia.

Roanoke Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a Mississippi man early this morning.

He died beside his truck at the Ferncliff Apartments in Northwest Roanoke.
The shooting happened in the basement hallway of a nearby building.
Witnesses say he ran from the building, started to drive away and collapsed while climbing back out of his truck.

Candice Couser (COW-SER) was awakened when a bullet went through her front door and landed in her kitchen.

State Police say the man was pushing a scooter across Interstate 5-8-1 near the Hershberger Road exit when he was hit.

The Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech routed the U-V-A women on the road last night 92 to 61.
