Police say Michael Burgess of Ardmore used a handgun to shoot and kill his wife, her parents, his stepdaughter and himself.
When they responded to the house after getting a call from a woman, they found the father-in-law in the back yard, wounded.
Before he died, he was able to tell officers the shooter was inside.

A Giles county student is charged with threatening bodily injury to a student and teacher- over the internet. Police say the 15-year-old Narrows High School student had a website where he threatened to tie the two up and beat them with a hammer. Another student observed the site and reported it to the school officials. Police say the site contained satanic material. The Narrows Police Department says it will act quickly whenever students or teachers are threatened over the internet.

But to turn this corner lot into 65- paved parking spaces-- the church says it needs to demolish the two vacant buildings on the property. Roanoke's Architectural Review Board has ruled against the proposal. The board has reportedly said one of the buildings can go-- but wants the church to keep a portion of the other building for architectural or historic value. Church leaders plan to appeal to city council.

A shooting in a New York city school- leaves two students hospitalized tonight.

It happened this afternoon at Martin Luther King Junior High School on the Upper West Side- on what would have been King's 73-rd birthday... The two victims- one 17 and the other 18... are both in serious condition. Police say an 18-year-old student is in custody. The school was locked down today while police searched the building... classes were soon dismissed and the students sent home. Many parents rushed to the school after hearing reports on the radio.

Now two teenagers face murder charges for last summer's incident.
Nineteen year old James Earl Hodge and a 16 year old boy were arrested yesterday afternoon.

A company spokeswoman confirms Alliant Techsystems- -the firm that runs the plant for the Army- -lost the contract to make M-14 munitions propellant, but would not confirm that the contract had gone to Canada. Union President Luther Woolwine says A-T-K has been conducting "town meetings" throughout the plant since Friday, explaining the impact of loosing the M-14 contract.
HE says the workers are being told that as many as 90 people will lose their jobs by April first. Another 150 will be let go sometime after that.

A bank robber scattered money across a Danville street this morning.
The robbery happened at the American National Bank on Main Street.
Police say a man entered the bank with a handgun and demanded money.
When staff handed over the cash, the suspect left but didn't get far before a dye pack exploded scattering money in a nearby street.
Police describe the suspect as a black man, between 5-feet-8 and 6-feet-2, weighing more than 250 pounds.

State police say charges are pending against the truck driver involved in an accident last night on Route 460.

The accident occurred around 8-30 when an empty tanker hit a car.
The truck, driven by Douglas Wayne Lawhorne, then hit both sides of the Goose Creek bridge guard rail, knocking sections out.
While no structural damage was done to the road, V-DOT says the bridge needs to be closed while the concrete guardrail is replaced.
Officials said today they hope to have the bridge closed by Friday and divert westbound traffic to an eastbound lane.
Currently one lane is open westbound.

In return the Dodgers get outfielder Brian Jordan, pitcher Odalis Perez and a minor league pitcher.
