A Blacksburg woman was seriously injured when she was struck by a car today.
Police hope the driver of another vehicle may provide them helpful information.
Blacksburg officers say an S-U-V struck 20 year old Alyson McCanless Higginbotham on North Main Street late this afternoon. Higginbotham is under treatment at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Sara Jane Olson was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison today for a bombing plot.. and she was also arraigned on a murder charge.

Olson pleaded guilty to charges she helped plant bombs under Los Angeles police cars 26 years ago. The bombs malfunctioned and never went off, but an officer who was in one of those cars showed the trigger device from the pipe bomb.

Does the passing of time cause a terrorist sentencing to lessen?
Olson was also arraigned on separate murder charges from her involvement with a 1970s radical group called the Symbionese Liberation Army. Prosecutors say in 1975, members of the SLA burst into a California bank and killed a customer with a single shotgun blast. Myrna Opsahl was a mother of four.

Just for the record, I am not a fugitive of justice.
Three others have been arrested on that same charge. And In Portland Friday, another member of the SLA appeared before a judge. Prosecutors are trying to extradite Mike Bortin to Sacramento, where Bill and Emily Harris were arraigned Friday afternoon.

PEG RUSCONI: Since 1997, the archdiocese has settled about 50 lawsuits against Geoghan for more than 10 million dollars. But that number is expected to go up considerably. Police say a man shot a woman on the Broward Community College campus and then turned the gun on himself.
The woman apprently knew the man and police say it was a domestic dispute.
The woman was a student at the college - which is in Davie, Florida near Fort Lauderdale.

Bob Hicks will be the first girls head basketball coach at Hidden Valley, but he will not teach at the school, instead he will keep his job in the community.

Hicks has been a long time assistant coach in the area, coaching at Hidden Valley junior high and at Cave Spring high school for the last 10 years. He has served as an assistant to the Cave Spring boys varsity team the last several years under head coach and brother Billy Hicks.

Sources say that his daughter, Virginia Tech senior Sarah Hicks, will be one of his assistant coaches while she works towards her masters at Tech. A full time woman assistant will also be hired.

About nine-thousand people showed up for tickets, but there was a problem...
The theater can only hold 900.
Some fans became unruly when they found out they wouldn't get tickets.....
The anniversary show is scheduled to air January 31st.
