While most revenues from car loads were flat, N-S says coal shipments were the bright spot.

Last night's game attracted the young and the young at heart as Roanoke looked to get above the 500 mark in the conference. EMU's Jeremy Newman knocks the bottom of the hoop from the wing as he hits nothing but net. EMU put five players in double figures. But Roanoke was on its game, as well. Josh Foster to Jaimar Mansel - who knocks in a three ball of his own. Jaimar had 16 points. Foster will then take care of business with the drive between two defenders to the glass. Foster had a game high 19 points. Foster would also be deadly from three point range hitting three out of four shots from beyond the arc.

Virginia Tech's 12 game winning streak ended last night at Syracuse as the women lost 75-to-59. Tech shot just 36 percent from the floor, but Sarah Hicks shot 50 percent and led the team with 18 points. She also hit three - three pointers to tie her for the all-time career lead in shots beyond the arc. The road stays tough as the Hokies play at defending national champ Notre Dame on Saturday night.

The Roanoke Dazzle has signed forward Martin Lewis, a former second round draft pick of the Toronto Raptors. Lewis is 26 years old. He was taken 50th overall in the 1995 NBA draft after playing just two years at a Kansas junior college. He has played in 25 NBA games, and earlier this year played briefly for Mobile in the NBDL. To make room for Lewis, the Dazzle had to cut Ricky Moore. The team is home tonight at 7 against Columbus.

He remains humble and thankful to be coaching the girls at Patrick Henry. ((:)) ((:)) Lazenby recruited David Carter, an eight year veteran of Cave Spring youth basketball, to come to PH and coach the varsity girls. The pair have revitalized the girls program. Roland is no stranger to coaching either. He coached the 11 year old Roanoke Stars AAU girls team to a 46 and 7 record last year. That team finished 22nd in the country. ((:)) ((:))
