A federal judge agreed, ruling yesterday that school-sponsored prayers at VMI are unconstitutional.

The students claimed the tradition violated their constitutional rights.
A federal judge agreed ruling grace at the state-funded school amounts to a "state sponsored religious exercise."
Virginia's Attorney General promises to appeal.

The House of Delegates passed a proposal yesterday that would require public schools in Virginia to post "In God We Trust" signs in a prominent place.
Supporters note those four words are the national motto.
Opponents say it violates the separation of church and state.
The measure goes on to the Senate.

That after gas service was restored to three schools that did not have heat yesterday.

A Bedford County plant will package and ship a newly-approved generic drug to fight attention deficit disorder.

Barr Laboratories in Forest will soon be sending Dexadrine Spansule to pharmacy shelves.
This Food and Drug Administration approval to manufacture the drug is Barr's ninth this fiscal year, and the second generic drug used to treat A-D-D.
The new drug will also be used to treat narcolepsy.
Sales for Barr reached 58-million dollars last year.

The State Senate has approved legislation that could raise the price you pay for gasoline. Now, the bill is headed for the House.

The owners of Famous Anthony's are re-opening Miller's Place -- the restaurant started by Fincastle preservationist George Moore in 19-96.
They're busy getting the place ready to open next month.
The building's history can be traced back to 18-70.
Moore leased the restaurant to Famous Anthony's the day before he was killed in a train accident.
