Subpoenas were served this week on various corporate donors, local United Way organizations and foundations that help fund the food bank. Board President Jim Pearman says he believes the Food Bank has had adequate oversight of its financial operations, including external audits and a full accounting for food and money. He says "we have no secrets from anybody." No comment from the Government.

This morning, a crew from Norfolk Southern pulled the big machine out of the Virginia Museum of Transportation, and moved it onto a nearby side track. There, an advertising agency crew began sizing it up for a photo shoot. The locomotive will soon be appearing in national magazine ads for the Mercedes "S" class automobile. Producer Michael Purcilly toured the nation, looking for just the right locomotive. When he saw 611, he saw... TC 2:37:12:15 ((MICHAEL PURCILLY/AD PRODUCER: POWER. POWER, SPEED AND PERFORMANCE. The next season all he did was win a state championship, as his Bees beat Handley for the division 3 crown. The Glenvar Highlanders girls hoop team, that won the Group A state title last December was introduced in the House of Delegates today by Salem Republican Morgan Griffith. The speaker of the house Vance Wilkins and Clerk Bruce Jamerson read a resolution recognizing the 27-and-2 champions.

It of course was unanimously approved.
