They're charged with illegally distributing controlled substances and health care fraud.
Two others face similar charges.

The defendants appeared in federal court Saturday morning.
The case stems from a two year investigation that ended Friday when agents arrested five people here at this medical building in Roanoke.
The practice is owned and operated by Dr. Cecil Knox.

All three also face health care fraud charges as well as two other defendants Kathleen O'Gee and Willard James Jr.

Fifth Disrict Congressman Virgil Goode has announced he's joining the Republican Party.

The move follows years of speculation that Goode would join the G-O-P. The Rocky Mount native made the announcement at a Republican Committee meeting in Appomattox today. Goode left the Democratic Party two years ago to become an Independent, but agreed to caucus with the Republicans in Congress. Goode was first elected to Congress in 1996 as a Democrat.

CropTech develops genetically modified tobacco for medicine and is based in Blacksburg. North Carolina's Tobacco Trust Fund has committed three million dollars to relocated CropTech to North Carolina. A company official says CropTech has not made a decision where it will go.

Workers at one Pulaski plant are on the picket line for a second night.

About fifty workers at the Magnox Plant in Pulaski say they've been "locked out" by the company since early Friday morning.
The move came after the company and workers failed to reach an agreement on a new contract.
The union says it's willing to work for another year under the current contract.

A company spokesperson says the plant is still fully operational with salaried employees.
Magnox makes magnetic oxides for use in video and (MAG-nuh-tites) magnetites used in toner for copier machines.
