The much anticipated 14 foot tall statue of Dale Earnhardt was unveiled outside of Daytona USA on Speedway Boulevard.

The Bronze statue depicts Earnhardt following his one and only Daytona 500 victory with trophy in one hand and fist in the air. His widow Theresa Earnhardt helped dedicate the piece of art work.

Hillsville's Paxar plant is producing the medal ribbons for this month's Winter Games.
After several designs, the Olympic Committee approved one with three shades of blue that reads Salt Lake 2002 and "light the fire within." Officials say it took about 3-days to make 9-hundred ribbons.
