(( It was an historic meeting between two leaders who became allies
in the war on terrorism. And near the top of the agenda was the plight

BUSH: WE spent a time today in the Oval office talking about our mutual desire that Mr. Pearl is returned home safely.
The fact that President Bush and President Pervez Musharraf
discussed the abduction of the Wall Street reporter highlights just how important Pearl's fate is to a delicate U.S. Pakistani relationship.
President Pervez Musharraf,Pakistan.
"I am reasonably sure he is alive and I really very much hope that he is alive. About getting him released, let me say we are as close as
possible to getting him released."
The 38 year old journalist vanished three weeks ago in
Karachi...where police are now interrogating prime suspect Ahmad Omar Saeed Sheikh. But so far three are conflicting reports about whether the British-born extremist is cooperating. One police source claims Saeed is "not saying anything." Another has quote Saeed as saying Pearl's alive. "He's ok."
The President of Pakistan believe his government crackdown on
Islamic extremists provoked the militants to such anger that they
kidnapped Pearl in protest. Musharraf's handling of Pearl's abduction is seen by some...as a test of how well he can control his country's
radical elements.
President Bush insists the relationship between the U.S. and
Pakistan is no "short dance." But it's unclear how long the two leaders can remain strong partners - if Americans become potential targets for Pakistan terrorists. Jim Acosta ....Cbs News, The White House.))
