The drought conditions cover most of the east coast and have been developing for more than three years. The winter season will usually recharge the water table but we've seen very little snow cover. Today marks the death of St. Valentine... but which one?
(------------)
[VO-NAT]
[SUPER=03-Terni, Italy]

According to the Catholic list of martyrs there are at least three Saint Valentines under the date of February 14th.
One is described as a priest at Rome, another was an Italian bishop and a third lived in Africa.
But, the Italian bishop is the one most accepted as the saint behind Valentine's Day.... and is the one these people gathered to recognize in Terni Italy today.
He was put to death in 270 A-D for disobeying a ban on Christianity.
Romance is associated with this date because spring is near and it is said to be when birds select their mates.
