Center is helping the Lincoln Theatre Foundation bring the 1920's era venue back to life. The theatre, which is one of only three in the country decorated in a Mayan motif, has been unused since the 1970's and is in need of major restoration. The president of Center in the Square says the organization is offering help in getting the project off the ground. He adds he'd like to see still more performance art in communities along Interstate 81.

((JIM SEARS/CENTER IN THE SQUARE: I THINK HAVING LIVE THEATER FROM MARION VIRGINIA TO DC WOULD BE A WAY TO ATTRACT PEOPLE TO THIS REGION AND HAVE A FOCUS AND A PURPOSE. AND IT WOULDN'T BE JUST LIVE THEATER. WE HAVE WHITE WATER RAFTING, WONDERFUL MUSEUMS AND CIVIL WAR BATTLEFIELDS AND ALL OF THAT ALONG 81 AND I'M NOT SURE THAT THE WORLD KNOWS THIS.))
