It's back to square one for a group of Danville residents who want to honor Dr. Martin Luther King by naming a road after him.

But a committee decided changing the name would negatively impact businesses along the roadway.

House and Senate negotiators have been working to iron out differences between the two bills, but right now, they're still meeting behind closed doors in Richmond.

Hendrick Motorsports driver Ricky Hendrick, who dislocated his right shoulder in Saturday's NASCAR Busch race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, will have arthroscopic surgery tomorrow to repair ligament damage in his shoulder. The driver of the GMAC Chevrolet is expected to make a full recovery, but will be out about six weeks. Taking his place is two-time Craftsman Truck Series champion Ron Hornaday. He could be back in time for the April 20 event at Talladega.

The Virginia International Raceway located in Alton is all set to enjoy another growth spurt. The Halifax County Board of Supervisors has approved expansion plans for the track to create an entire off-road driving facility that will make it the only operation in the country. Among other things, VIR will begin constructing a two mile dirt motocross track, a one mile dirt SUV elevation course and a paved 3000 foot long karting track. The season opens on April 26th with the Ferrari Challenge. 11 big weekends of various racing are on this year's VIR schedule.
