Area fire fighters were called to the plant around eight o'clock tonight for a brush fire. A spokesman says grass was ignited by a spark from a power line. Fire fighters from several departments were called in for back- up because the fire was near a nitroglycerine plant. That fire was quickly put out... and no injuries were reported.

Brush fires have also been a problem in Roanoke County. Crews were called to the top of Fort Lewis Mountain off of Bear Creek Circle around 8:30 this morning. The fire is contained at this hour but firefighters plan to stay on the mountain throughout the night to keep an eye on the fire. No word yet on what started the blaze.
