A spokesman says grass was ignited by a spark from a power line.
Fire fighters from several departments were called in for back- up because the fire was near a nitroglycerine plant.

Crews were called to the top of Fort Lewis Mountain off of Bear Creek Circle around 8:30 yesterday morning.
They quickly got a line around the fire but it jumped the line several times due to wind gusts that reached as high as 40 miles an hour.
The fire is contained at this hour, but firefighters are still on the mountain this morning keeping a close eye on it.
No word yet on what started the blaze.

Forestry officials say that fire has burned nearly a hundred acres.

Butch Church has proposed an ordinance that would allow the county to recover the expense of responding to wrecks caused by drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
There were 319 D-U-I arrests last year in Roanoke County, 15-percent of which were accidents.
The fees would range from 500 to a thousand dollars and would be in addition to any criminal penalties.

By late spring, V-I-R will have a new off-road driving facility that includes an S-U-V course as well as a motorcross and go cart track.
The raceway has also secured more than a million dollar's in tobacco money to help pay for on-site sewage which allows for the construction of new buildings.
