In a Dodge County, Nebraska court hearing, 27-year-old Mark Lamont Neamo and 18-year-old Christopher Brian Krug waived extradition this morning. Two Roanoke City detectives have been in Nebraska since yesterday, and could bring the pair back on a commercial flight sometime next week.

Neamo and Krug are being held on abduction and firearms charges stemming from a shooting at the Stop-In on Hershberger Road last month that left one clerk dead.

They're deciding whether Andrea Yates should be sentenced to death-- or life behind bars-- for drowning her children.

Defense attorneys arrived at court today, well aware that this could be their final chance to convince jurors to spare Yates.
Yesterday, her mother was on the stand, pleading for her daughter's life.
Meanwhile, prosecutors didn't offer any witnesses during the penalty phase, resting their case on trial testimony.

It broke out just after 7:30 on the 28-hundred block of Timberview Drive.
When firefighters arrived they found the home engulfed in flames.
It took crews more than an hour to get the blaze under control. Water had to be trucked in because of a lack of fire hydrants in the neighborhood.
More than fifty firefighters worked to put out the blaze.
The family was home at the time, but everyone got out safely.
The home is a total loss.
No word yet on what caused the fire.
