A deputy U-S Marshal has been arrested for cocaine possession. Forty- nine year old Joseph Bruer, Junior, was picked up at his home on Roanoke Boulevard in Salem just after midnight last night.

A Virginia Tech freshman has been indicted on federal charges of threatening the lives of the nation's top elected officials. 18 year old Steven Keith Adair (uh-DAYR) was arrested in his dorm room by the Secret Service this morning.

Prosecutors say Adair set up a false e-mail account linked to a 14 year old New Jersey boy in October, and then sent an e-mail to the White House threatening the lives of President Bush and Vice President Cheney. The Secret Service originally thought the 14 year old was responsible.

44- year- old Linda Ferrell told police yesterday an unidentified white male walked up and shot her in the Graves Mill shopping center.
More than a dozen officers responded to search for the gun-toting suspect.. but Ferrell's story didn't hold up.
She later admitted to shooting herself.. she's in stable condition at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Authorities say Ferrell may be charged with filing a false report.
