The celebrated the holiday against the backdrop of 18 months of violence in the middle east.

Two people are dead after an accident in Smyth County.
State Police say three people were traveling south on Route 16 in the Sugar Grove area last night when their car hit the guardrail.
The vehicle then hit a bridge and overturned- throwing all three from the car.
19- year- old Eric Lee Hall and 20- year- old Jason Lee Tuggle both of Marion were killed.
The third passenger is listed in good condition at the Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Police say none of the passengers were wearing their seatbelts.

Roanoke's chief prosecutor announced that he will NOT seek new charges against an 82-year old man accused of shooting his teenage neighbor.

Although police ultimately found Hallis Jamison had three guns in his house, he had no phone and apparently felt trapped inside his home.
Officers say two girls had been harassing the man.
When their cousin went to the door to warn Jamison the girls were trying to get his car keys, Jamison fired a single shot from his 30-30 rifle. 16-year old Charlotte Brown died the next day.

Roanoke detectives flew in from Nebraska yesterday with 27-year-old Mark Lamont Neamo.
He's in the Roanoke city jail.
18-year-old Christopher Brian (Crew-g) Krug landed a few minutes later.
Authorities say Krug will be jailed in Roanoke COUNTY.
Both are being held without bond on abduction and firearms counts, in the shootings at the Stop-In on Hershberger Road.
The grand jury will consider additional charges on Monday.
