Officials concede the smoke can be irritating at times, but tests reveal the air is still safe.
The E-P-A also expects the smoke to be controlled within the next two weeks and the fire to be put out by the end of the month.

Residents also got an idea of how large the fire really is.
The EPA estimates that two major piles are still burning over an area six acres wide.
In some places, tires are more than 25 feet deep.
Some residents fear efforts to put of the fire could endanger the water supply.

The EPA says there isn't much run off from putting out the fire because the fire is so hot.
But just in case a water retention pond has been built to collect any water and foam that runs off the burning tires during treatment.
Meetings like tonight's are planned in the future.

A Vinton Police officer WILL NOT face charges for an automobile accident that killed two elderly women.
Prosecutor Joel Branscom says the evidence does not support any form of manslaughter.

This all stems from an accident that happened February 23rd just before midnight on Washington Avenue in Vinton.


Officer John Munsey was pursuing a "speeding pick-up" when a car carrying Audrey St. Clair and Onita Bryant collided with Munsey's patrol car.
The two elderly women were killed instantly.
Branscom says the decision not to press charges mainly dealt with how fast Munsey was going at the time of the accident.

Prosecutors requested blood and saliva samples from Clower today -- which may be used to determine paternity.

The fourth annual Advance Auto Parts Spring Invitational soccer tournament is this Saturday and Sunday. 124 games will be played on 10 fields at Green Hill Park.
