((NAT SOUND LAUGHTER:)) (( That trademark laugh and his outgoing personality were as much a part of what made Roy Stanley so special as anything else. He was the state of Virginia's dean of sportscasters with more than 30 years of air experience at Your Hometown Station. ((ROY STANLEY:)) The weekends were his place to shine as he anchored the sports each Saturday and Sunday nights for more than two decades. ((NAT SOUND OF ROY:)) Anchoring the sports desk at WDBJ-7 hardly seemed possible when he arrived in Roanoke looking for a job in February of 1972. ((ROY STANLEY:)) The Wytheville native, who attended Scott Memorial before integration, graduated from George Wythe high school in 1969. He was officially hired at WDBJ on Valentines' Day of 1972. He quickly established himself as a strong supporter of sports throughout the valley. And no one knew how to work a room or establish relationships with athletes and coaches like Roy Stanley. ((ROY STANLEY NAT SOUND:)) He won the prestigious Marshal Johnson Award from the Virginia High School coaches association recognizing his outstanding contributions to high school athletics - his true love. ((ROY STANLEY:)) During the 2001 Friday Football Extra season Roy proudly watched a kid whose diapers he once changed earn player of the week honors. ((ROY WITH JERMAINE:)) Roy Stanley was "Old school" and took pride in as he liked to put it "Keeping It Real." He did just that in the year 2000 - when the N Double A CP honored Roy with that year's Image Award. ((ROY STANLEY:)) Family was also extremely important to Roy. He is survived by his wife and two grown children, his dad and a sister.

His extended family here at WDBJ-7 will find it very hard to walk the halls without his boisterous blasts of laughter - the thousands and thousands of viewers who grew up and changed their hair styles right along with Roy Stanley will no doubt also find something missing in their own homes.)) Health Officials are still trying to figure out why dozens of students at Randolph-Macon Woman's College became ill last week.
About 60 students contracted a gastro-intestinal illness.
At this point health officials believe a food-borne illness is to blame and that all of the students contracted it from the same source.
The Health Department expects lab results tomorrow that should help determine the cause.
All of the students who got sick live on campus.
