Several hours later, authorities say Abbott was seen in Malinda Smith's car on Interstate 81. After a short high speed chase, Roanoke City police say Abbott committed suicide on Route 2-20 near Elm Avenue.

Pulaski County officials were also investigating Abbott. The Sheriff's Department says last night Abbott tried to abduct a man, and fired two gunshots at the victim but missed. Abbott was also wanted in Pulaski County on cocaine distribution charges.

Police say Edward Lutes then fled and drove to his boss's home- where he shot and wounded him. Lutes then took off again and was later found dead in his car. Authorities don't have a motive- but are looking into reports of ongoing hostility between Lutes and his neighbors. One officer did say that Lutes and a neighbor were involved in a criminal mischief case in October. According to a teenage neighbor- Lutes told some kids to throw eggs at the homes of two of his enemies that night.

And the Food and Drug Administration sent letters to three U-S pharmacies, saying the products are illegal.
The F-D-A is particularly concerned about lollipops, saying kids might mistake them for candy.

They've discovered a chemical pathway used by muscle cells to build strength and endurance.
