Prime Minister Ariel Sharon says he knows U-S policy in the Middle East is taking a blow because of the Israeli offensive in the West Bank.
But he says the military campaign will continue until Palestinian militants have been crushed.

Secretary of State Colin Powell arrived in the Middle East with hopes of finding some middle ground between Israelis and Palestinians this within hours of the Israeli Army launching new raids in the West Bank.

Though Israel did pull its forces out of 24-villages it's tanks and heavily armed soldiers remain in position around Jenin and other strategic locations following some the fiercest fighting in the recent Israeli offensive.

Fire swept across a ferry boat in the Phillippines, killing at least 23 people.
Many of them drowned after jumping overboard.

Survivors say the fire began with an explosion in the cargo hold and spread across the ship in a matter of minutes.
They say passengers stampeded to get away from the fast- moving flames.

The captain says documents indicate there were 290 people on board, but he says there could actually have been more.

Authorities say Rice may have targeted them because he thought they were gay.

The Food and Drug Administration is cracking down on pharmacists who are selling lollipops spiked with nicotine.

It ordered three drug stores in Mississippi, Massachusetts and Illinois to stop selling the candy--
It says the type of nicotine that the druggists were using has not been tested for safety.
Anti-smoking groups are also worried that children might get hooked on the lollipops.
The F-D-A also banned lip balm laced with nicotine, and is looking into some other unconventional anti-smoking products like nicotine lozenges and nicotine water.

First Union says starting today, it'll stop charging its own customers a fee when they use First Union automatic teller machines that aren't identified as the bank's.
Banks typically offer account holders free withdrawals at machines the bank owns, but people usually pay fees for using A-T-Ms that belong to other banks.
First Union says about 90 of its 47-hundred A-T-Ms around the country are unbranded. The company doesn't plan to refund customers who were charged the fees.

Baby Carmina was born upside down, and had breathed in fluid while still in her mother's womb.
She would have suffocated had the zookeeper not acted quickly.
It takes a lot of nerve, because the animals can give a nasty bite.
But both Carmina and her mother are now in good health...

A Missouri man celebrated his 67th birthday yesterday by working his way through the phone book.

Ed Charon is the self professed king of phone book ripping.
First, he set the world record by ripping apart 12 phone books with over a thousand pages each in three minutes.
Witnesses and timekeepers were on hand to make the Guinness Book of World Record title official.
His mother even drove from Oregon to witness her son make history.
He also tried to set an endurance record by ripping through 70 phone books in only 20 minutes. But by number 30 he was tired and had to take several breaks. He missed that record by five minutes.

A different kind of art is hitting the streets of San Diego.

It's all a part of San Diego's annual 'Artwalk'.
Hundreds of artists will have their art on display...including the fridges.
The artwork will then be auctioned on-line to benefit a California art school.
