The shooting happened last night in the parking lot of Tower's shopping mall.
20-year old Ronald Steven Clark of Blue Ridge was shot in the face and later died.

It happened on a busy Friday night just as the sun was going down.
Police arrived to find a man shot in the face in the driver's seat of this white sedan.
It didn't take long for officers to realize this wasn't a suicide.

They're also trying to determine whether the shooter was in the car and whether the two argued.
Police are hoping more witnesses will provide those much needed answers.

Lynchburg police still are searching for a suspect in a shooting that left two people dead.

25-year-old Anthony Robinson and 23-year-old Rhonda Robinson were killed yesterday morning at their home on Sussex Street.
Their eight-year-old daughter called a relative yesterday to say something was wrong with her parents. Police found the girl and her four-year-old sister unharmed when they arrived.
The parents' bodies were in separate areas of the home.
A Lynchburg investigator says firearms were involved in the double killing, and there were signs of forcible entry to the home.
Anthony Robinson was scheduled for trial in Lynchburg next month on charges of dealing cocaine.

Federal investigators say a back-up engineer and a conductor have bolstered the claims of a lead engineer, who said he slammed on the brakes when he saw dis-jointed tracks ahead.
Officials say the back up engineer in the locomotive cab and a conductor two cars back say they felt the train hit the dis-jointed track, and they also hit the emergency brakes.

they are getting ready to put the pieces back together.

Last year's fire destroyed academic buildings and damaged four dorms at the school in Farmville.
The fire was ruled an accident and rebuilding of the academic complex is expected to begin this summer, including reconstruction of the Rotunda that had been the centerpiece of the campus.
Next week-- Governor Mark Warner will visit the school on the fire's anniversary to sign legislation making Longwood a university.

A low-flying F-Four jet crashed today during an air show in California, killing two crew members.

The crash happened at the Point Mugu (muh-GOO) Naval Air Weapons station in Ventura, California.
One of the crew members did manage to eject from the jet as it flew less than 200 feet above the ground before crashing. The
jet burst into flames when it hit the ground.
The Navy will not release the names of two people that died until their families are notified.
Nobody on the ground was injured, and after the crash, the air show was cancelled and the spectators were told to go home.

(( The Hokies welcomed their 2002 recruiting class to campus on this Spring football Saturday. Including their quarterback of the future, Marcus Vick.
But the Hokies' immediate concern is the health of starting quarterback Grant Noel.
Noel tore an Anterior Cruciate Ligament in Wednesday's final practice. He skipped today's game and has opted not to have surgery.

With Noel hobbling, the Hokies' only remaining healthy quarterback Bryan Randall did double duty.
He changed jerseys and teams on every possession.

Randall accounted for the only offensive score of the game, scoring on this eight yard touchdown run in the second quarter while he was quarterbacking the Maroon team to a 12-to-nothing lead.
Roanoke Lee Suggs was back on the field and in uniform. Suggs officially played just one play, but thanks to some creative jersey swapping with Keith Burnell in the fourth quarter, the estimated 20 thousand fans in attendance thought Suggs played much. much more.

The Hokies also handed out spring awards. Among those picking up hardware was Jefferson Forest product - Jake Grove. He was named the offense's most valuable player. And converted receiver Justin Hamilton was named the most improved.

UVa spring Football Festival was a success according to head coach Al Groh.
The Virginia offense defeated the defense, 76-to-70 at Scott Stadium.
The scoring method was unique as Matt Schaub went 7-of-16 for 89 yards passing with one
interception, a touchdown, and two sacks.
Marques Hagans was 8-of-15 with one interception and two touchdowns.
Sophomore Marquis Weeks rushed for 90 yards on 12 carries and
scored one touchdown.
Michael McGrew, Raymond Mann and Art Thomas received the Rock Weir Award as the team's Most Improved Players.

Yesterday morning the Cave Spring Softball League held its opening ceremonies at Penn Forest Park.
More than 450 young girls ages 8 to 18 trotted onto Lynn Saunders Field to officially begin their 2002 seasons.
At the conclusion of the fanfare, the league's members honored Roy with a moment of silence, and then asked that County Supervisor Fuzzy Minnix and I represent Roy's family and throw out the opening pitch for the season in his honor.
