It didn't take long for officers to realize this wasn't a suicide.

Last year, a popular northern alliance leader was killed by two men posing as journalists.

Nearly a year after fire devastated the campus of Longwood College, officials say they are almost ready to put the pieces back together.

Last year's fire destroyed academic buildings and damaged four dorms at the school in Farmville. The fire was ruled an accident and rebuilding of the academic complex is expected to begin this summer, including reconstruction of the Rotunda that had been the centerpiece of the campus. Next week-- Governor Mark Warner will visit the school on the fire's anniversary to sign legislation making Longwood a university.

Police in Chicago say bodyguards foiled an attempt to assassinate the Reverend Jessee Jackson.
It happened Saturday morning at Rainbow PUSH headquarters in the city's southside.

Police say 25 year-old Willie Wallace walked into the building while Jackson was in the middleof his weekly PUSH forum broadcast. Witnesses say Wallace got up out of his pew near the back and walked down the aisle toward Jackson, who was on stage.
They say he reached into both pockets and took out two 22-caliber handguns. Bodyguards surrounded Wallace and detained him until police arrived.
