A couple was gunned down in Roanoke--- before the gunman turned the weapon on himself.

When police arrived, they found three people dead and a neighborhood in disbelief. As Teresa Hamilton reports,the shooting apparently started as an argument that spilled onto the street and was partially witnessed by a five year old boy.

Some students in Danville will get a day off from school today. About 150 students were forced out of the building yesterday morning when a fire broke out in the auditorium of the Opportunity School. The students were later sent home. The blaze was quickly under control, but smoke heavily damaged the building.
The Opportunity School will be closed to students today. Staff will still have to report.

The U-S Forest Service is expected to release an environmental impact statement today regarding a proposed power line through the Jefferson National Forest.
In 1996, American Electric Power was denied permission to build a new line and asked to reroute it.
Last year the State Corporation Commission approved the new route from Wyoming County, West Virginia to Jackson's Ferry in Wythe County.
Since the Jefferson National Forest is in the path of the new route, the Forest Service is asked to give an opinion.

Blake and his bodyguard, Earle Caldwell, are accused of plotting to shoot and kill Bonnie Lee Bakley last May.
Authorities say Blake shot Bakley himself, after asking two other people to do it for him.
Prosecutors aren't saying whether they plan to seek the death penalty.
Blake is scheduled to be back in court next Wednesday.

Victoria Shepherd plead guilty to attempted malicious wounding and endangerment of a child, both felonies. She also plead to two misdemeanor charges. Last August, Shepherd was accused of swerving into another car while driving recklessly on Route-460 with her infant child in the car.

Shepherd's prison sentence was suspended. She has three-years of probation and will lose her driver's license for a year. In court yesterday, she testified that she suffers from anxiety attacks and that she wasn't taking her medication at the time of the accident. Her attorney says she's now under the care of a doctor.
