At least 176 priests suspected of molesting minors have resigned or been taken off duty since the church sex scandal erupted four months ago.
That according to an Associated Press review of Roman Catholic dioceses nationwide.
Twenty-eight states and the District of Columbia have seen a priest leave active duty because of sex accusations.
Another 18 states have been somehow affected, leaving just four states where the scandal seems to have had no impact.
Several dioceses would not say how many clergy they suspended, so the number is likely higher.
But even if the figure were significantly higher, it would still likely equate to less than one-half of one percent of the 46-thousand priests in the U-S.
