The city of Bedford and Bedford and Campbell Counties were in the path of a severe storm yesterday afternoon. Hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage was done to home and businesses in the region.

Some area children found a GOOD reason to visit Bedford County this weekend.

More than fifty area kids attended the fourth annual Camp Treehouse held at Camp Virginia Jaycee.
It is a three three day event that gives children the opportunity to meet others their own age who have lost a loved one.

Severe weather took its toll on the city of Bedford, as well as Bedford and Campbell counties yesterday afternoon. The skies opened up around 4:30 bringing damaging winds and hail to the area.

Emergency Crews were forced to close off downtown Bedford last night after a destructive storm ripped through the city.
Buildings have been checked for safety.
At this time, only two streets remain closed.

Over in Roanoke County - Free admission brought a huge turnout to Virginia's Explore Park.

Yesterday-- thousands turned out to take advantage of free admission at Virginia's Explore Park Living History Museum.
