It s not about recreating my grandfather's flight. It s about celebrating this flight. 75 years ago Charles Lindbergh made the first non-stop solo flight from New York to Paris. He even left his parachute behind to make room for more fuel. It was cool and it was misty. A little girl at the time, Dorothy Gelpa watched Lindbergh take off that day. DOROTHY GELPA/WATCHED ORIGINAL FLIGHT: And the plane looked so great to me. But now when I see it in the Smithsonian it s so small. How he ever managed that Now she's back to see Erik do the same. But this plane is twice as fast, with satellites to guide him. But all that technology can t combat fatigue. He ll be in the air for more than 16 hours alone. And the biggest danger is the same. If the engine stops and Lindbergh ditches in the ocean, no helicopter could reach him for hours. So he started deep-water survival training more than a year ago.
Five years ago Erik Lindbergh was completely disabled with rheumatoid arthritis. Now he s soaring alone, with encouragement but no advice from the ground. Doesn't need words from an old lady, he s got it all figured out. I hope God takes care of him. Chris Lawrence CBS News Long Island New York.))

Federal regulators say that building a 90-mile natural gas pipeline from Wythe County to Eden, North Carolina would have limited impact on the environment.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has issued a draft environmental impact statement on the Duke Energy plan.

The existing line stretches from southern Tennessee to Wythe County.
The extension would continue south through Max Meadows, cross Interstate 81 and run through Carroll, Patrick and Henry counties before crossing the state line into North Carolina.
The federal commission has eliminated nine out of 12 other routes.
