Police are treating the death of a Roanoke woman as suspicious. Authorities discovered the body of 82- year old Edna Dooley inside her home early Friday morning. Police were answering a domestic call. When officers got there, they say Dooley's son and daughter were involved in a fight. They've been identified as Eddie Dooley and Cindy Countess. The death is being treated as a homicide-- but police are still waiting for some lab results.

The body of a white male was removed from the Poages Mill overlook this morning.
It was discovered by a group of Frisbee players who first noticed a stranded dog.
While waiting for the park service to pick up the dog, their Frisbee went down an embankment. They found the body under some debris.
The FBI is not releasing any information about the identity of the man or what killed him.
The dog is thought to have belonged to the victim.

A suspect is in custody in the murder of a Henry County man. Clifford Daniel Jamison (JAME-ih-son) was found lying outside a home on New Hope Drive in Bassett Saturday morning. The 48-year old had apparently been shot. This morning, 20-year old Frank Tyrone Ziglar turned himself over to Henry County authorities. He's being held with no bond on charges including first degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

A grand jury today indicted the federal agent accused of killing a Roanoke man.

A week has been aside in September for the trial of Timothy Workman-- who made a brief court appearance in Roanoke General District court earlier this year. The off duty Texas D-E-A agent is accused of shooting Keith Bailey three times in the chest after a scuffle in a restaurant parking lot in February. Workman has previously pled NOT guilty to the murder and weapons charges returned today.

A Franklin County man AGAIN faces charges of murder and drunk driving after a judge threw them out last month on a technicality.

This time, a grand jury indicted William Fitzgerald on charges of SECOND degree murder and driving under the influence.
Last month, a judge threw out those charges because of a clerical error.
But prosecutors say that's now been corrected.
Last November, Fitzgerald struck Ellen Marie Shenker head on ... killing her and injuring her son, Tommy.
The accident happened just 7 hours after he'd been released from jail on a D-U-I.
Prosecutors say Fitzgerald was impaired by alcohol and prescription drugs.
His attorneys have said he passed out a the wheel because he was improperly medicated.

A Roanoke woman is accused of embezzling from a local P-T-A. 45- year old Dawn Mays-Johnson was indicted today for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars from the Lincoln Terrace elementary school P-T-A. Mays-Johnson allegedly embezzled as much as 98- hundred dollars while serving as the group's president. The discrepancy was found when the Lincoln Terrace P-T-A began bouncing checks.

Ferrum College's Board of Trustees decided this weekend to hold off on a proposal that would have replaced the Blue Ridge Institute Farm Museum with a grocery store.
A supermarket chain -- said to be Food Lion -- has expressed interest in the site.
Trustees said they would wait until the college's new president Jennifer Braaten takes office in July before moving forward.
The board backed a plan to sell or lease HALF the college's land to commercial developers... but said it would seek more input from the college and community.

The Roanoke Express announced today that former center Vern Fiddler has signed a two year contract with the NHL's Nashville Predators. The deal, per year, if Fiddler plays an entire season with Nashville, could earn him 400 thousand dollars.
