The Virginia Army National Guard has helped with airport security since October-- a result of the September 11th terrorist attacks.
President Bush requested National Guard members be posted in commercial service airports to provide increased security for the traveling public.
That job will be taken over by the Transportation Security Agency.
Troops will leave the Lynchburg Airport on Friday and the Roanoke airport Monday.

The Feds are joining the state investigation into claims that Republicans illegally listened to confidential Democratic conference calls.
Eastern District U-S Attorney Paul McNulty will join Richmond Commonwealth's Attorney David Hicks in directing the inquiry.
Hicks had asked federal authorities to become involved because of a state law that limits how much Virginia State Police can do to investigate legislators.
Former state Republican Party executive director Ed Matricardi was indicted last month on four felony wiretapping charges.
Two other Republican staffers have been implicated, but have not been charged.

WE start on the diamond with a rare jewel of a coach. Liberty high school's Jim Cutler is in his 38th season as head baseball coach, heck, he's the only baseball coach the school has ever had.

So it was only fitting last night that the school name the Liberty high school field after Cutler. The Booster club also presented him with a 1977 state championship ring. Cutler is a member of the Salem/Roanoke Valley Hall of fame and the Virginia High school League Hall of fame, but still he gives much of the praise to the people around him.

The four former Bridgewater football players who were expelled in late March for stealing over three thousand dollars of goods from the school bookstore have been convicted of misdemeanors.

All-American running back Davon Cruz, along with the other three football players P.J. Berry, C.J. Smart, and J.R. Solomon were convicted of one count of petty larceny and one count of trespassing. The judge ruled against felony charges but each player will have to pay a one thousand dollar fine, pay about 650 bucks restitution to the college bookstore and perform 250 hours of community service while on probation next year.
