Authorities say high winds ripped a two-block path through a trailer park in Centralia, a town in southern Illinois.
The winds also knocked down power lines and toppled trees.
The National Weather Service is trying to figure out whether it might have been a tornado that plowed through the town.
One local official says, "there's nothing left."

After two days of testimony, it only took a Botetourt County jury one hour to find a former prison guard guilty of dealing drugs to inmates.
Randy Robertson was convicted on two counts of distributing oxycontin and sentenced to serve 25 years.
Two inmates came forward alleging that Robertson, then a guard at the Botetourt County prison Camp 25, had tried to sell them the drug.
He was caught on tape trying to do it.
Robertson had pleaded NOT guilty to the charges.
He'll be formally sentenced in August.
