The Virginia National Guard is completely moving out of state Airports by the end of the month, causing some concern among passengers. However, airport officials tell Justin McLeod that does NOT mean security will be forgotten.

The Virginia Army National Guard has helped with airport security since October, a result of the September 11th attacks.
President Bush requested the troops be posted in commercial service airports to provide increased security for the traveling public.
That job will now be taken over by the Transportation Security Agency.

One week later, the State Corporation Commission issued a permit for the plant.

Some tense moments this evening for the owner of a tractor trailer that caught fire in Botetourt County.

The cab of a tractor trailer caught fire shortly after 6 o'clock at a truck stop off of Interstate 81. Fire officials say leaking diesel fuel caught fire just as the rig driver was about to go to sleep. Another truck driver alerted him that his cab was on fire. The blaze was quickly extinguished, and did not spread to any other truck. Nobody was injured, the truck is a total loss.

Traffic was backed up for miles--- hours after the incident.

Police say the driver of a green Toyota was heading towards Salem when she crossed the center line hitting a gold Chevrolet.

Police have charged Kira Mason with failure to maintain control of vehicle.
She is recovering from a fractured leg.

The man for Charlotte was George Lynch. Lynch who averaged maybe 6 or seven points in the first three games, was the Hornets second leading scorer with 19 points.
Big George hit several clutch jumpers on his way to a 8 for 16 shooting day.
Charlotte got the ball bouncing or rolling the right way in the first half. Baron davis gets the roll, the Charlotte halftime lead was 44-39.

In the NHL playoffs, the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Montreal Canadiens and that gives the Hurricanes a 3-games to 2 advantage in the conference best of seven semifinal series.

On the PGA tour, Japan's Shigeki (sha-geck-gee maury-yama) Maruyama held on to win the P-G-A's Byron Nelson Classic, scrambling for a 2-under-par 68 that left him at 14-under for the tournament. Tiger Woods rallied with a 65 to finish third, four strokes behind Maruyama.
Ernie Els had the shot of the day, he gets the hole in one on 13 to go nine under.

On the LPGA tour, Annika Sorenstam birdied 18 and Pat Hurst bogeyed it, leaving Sorenstam with a one-stroke victory at the Electrolux U-S-A Championship in Franklin, Tennessee. Sorenstam tied the course record of 8-under-par 64 in yesterday's final round.

The Arena Football2 league is now running the day to day operations of the Roanoke Steam. Roanoke ran its' winning streak to four games last night with a 27-to-23 win against Norfolk. But fans have yet to warm up to the Steam.
