And the public was not informed of the warning.
The information comes as the FBI says it's getting ready to make some changes in the way it fights terrorism.

Roanoke County police say a junior high school student could face criminal charges for telling classmates he brought an explosive device to school.

One-thousand students at Hidden Valley Junior High were evacuated at about two while state police searched the building.
Roanoke County investigators say the boy had a device that APPEARED to be a fake grenade.

Roanoke County police say they will probably seek criminal charges.

Authorities say it's important that affected residents call FEMA at 1-800-621-FEMA to pre-register for assistance.

The government estimates Spence was responsible for selling between 50 and 150 grams of crack.

A recovery plan was announced today.
A special heavy-lift derrick will be used to raise the ship's 120-ton turret from the waters off Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.
That's where it sank 140 years ago.
After lengthy preservation work, the turret and guns will go on permanent display at the Mariners' Museum in Newport News..

Express coach Perry Florio was in the house last night spending a night out with the family. This one was all Salem as Cory Sullivan hits one sharply to right. Jorge Piedra comes home from second on the play and it's 1-to-nothing in the first. Next Piedra will bunt down the third base line, and what should have been a close play at home turns into an easy run for Melvin Rosario. It's 2-to-nothing in the second. Miguel Vilorio would then hit one fair up the third base line.

The NCAA Division Two Softball tournament opens tomorrow morning at 11 at the Moyer Complex in Salem. Eight teams have made their way to the Roanoke Valley - although for most it has taken some doing to get here.

The Lowe's Motor Speedway will come back to life this weekend for the Winston all-star race.

Joe Nemechek will be there racing for his brand new team.
Today, front row Joe was hired by Hendrick Motorsports to drive the #25 Chevrolet the rest of the season.

He will compete in the Winston because he won a race last year. If he performs well in the car, he likely will be back in it in full-time in 2003. Winston qualifying is tomorrow night under the lights

On the area tennis courts, Patrick Henry's Brock Newton and Tyler Early won the Western Valley district's doubles title last night beating EC Glass' Walter Basten and Dean Williams 6-3 and 6-3. The regionals are set for next week.
