A little more than a day went by before crews found the body of a man who apparently drowned in Carvins Cove early Saturday morning...

They found the body in 54 feet of water about 150 yards from shore.
Rescue crews believe it is 23-year old Aaron Flory of Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.
He was swimming with two friends around three o'clock Saturday morning when according to witnesses he started struggling to stay afloat before disappearing beneath the water.
Fire officials want to remind everyone that Carvin's Cove is off-limits to swimming.

A second arrest has been made in the fatal drive-by shooting that left a Martinsville High school student dead.

Police say 19 year old Curtis Orlando Robertson Junior turned himself in to authorities around nine o'clock yesterday morning. He's being held at the Martinsville City jail without bond.

Police had been looking for Robertson since Wednesday's shooting that left 19 year old Delvin Hairston dead with a single gunshot wound to the chest. A 17 year old suspect was arrested on Thursday at his home in Axton. Both teens now face first degree murder charges.

Mail delivery has been delayed in Rocky Mount after a fire charred the building and destroyed more than a thousand pieces of mail Saturday night.

A spokesman for the Postal Service says the fire destroyed approximately one-thousand pieces of incoming mail, and about 400 pieces of mail were damaged by smoke and water. In addition, some post office boxes were damaged, and some of the mail in the boxes was charred. The lobby is closed for now... while crews work to repair the building, and mail delivery will be up and running as soon as possible.

Rainfall in Philpott has been below average for 37 of the last 47 months.
In response to the drought, The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers enacted an Emergnecy Drought Management Plan in April.
Those efforts have already led to reduced outflow releases and increased water conservation efforts.
