Snead died on Thursday at the age of 89 following a series of strokes.

((The Montgomery County school board found itself facing questions over the use of a blue demon as the mascot for Christiansburg middle and high schools.
Some parents believe the symbol violates the county's new policy against emblems that show race, religion, nationality or ethnicity.
One viewer from Christiansburg is against doing away with the demon.

It's been 94 starts and four years since Jay Sigel last won on the Senior P-G-A Tour. Sigel shot a 67 yesterday to cap a 13-under-par 203, and he beat Morris Hatalsky by two shots at the Farmers Charity Classic in Ada, Michigan. On the LPGA tour, Laura Diaz won Corning Classic, her third win of the season, she was two strokes ahead of Rosie Jones

O the PGA tour, there was a four way tie as leaders hit the back nine but Jim Furyk rallied on the final nine holes to pull away from the pack. Her he gets the eagle on the par five 15th with this shot for the sand, he wins the meorial with 14 under total and a final round of 65. This is Furyk's seventh career PGA win and he was two shots better than John Cook and David Peoples.

The Virginia football team opens the season later this summer, August 22nd against Colorado State in the Jim Thorpe Classic. The Cavs, who will start a bunch of freshman will play a school record 13 games next season. Al Groh is used to playing 10 more than that and is looking forward to the long college season.
