Tara Munsey was abducted and shot in January of 2000. Jeff Thomas had his conviction and death sentence overturned by the State Supreme Court in March.
He will be re-tried later this summer.

Local golfing legend Sam Snead was eulogized yesterday at Saint Luke's Episcopal Church in Hot Springs.

The 89-year-old passed away Thursday after suffering a series of strokes.
Snead was the PGA Tour's career victory leader, chalking up 81 wins.
So many turned out for his funeral that an alcove had to be used.
Despite their loss, friends still managed to smile while talking about Snead.

A local supplier for the Miller Brewing Company is getting recognition for providing high-quality products and services.
Industrial Technologies of Danville won the brewer's prestigious "Partners in Excellence award" for 2001.
It's the fourth time the company was chosen for the honor.
Industrial Technologies supplies bearings, drive products and rubber products for Miller's production line.
It has been in business for 25 years.

In business news this morning- according to the latest economic numbers, Roanoke's growth appears to be at a stand-still.

A week after the September 11th attacks, the city of Roanoke decided to change the star from white to red, white, and blue.
Originally the plan was to keep it that way for only 30 days.
But eight months later, the star is still shining red, white, and blue and the city says for now it will remain those colors.

In September, Downtown Roanoke Incorporated also decided to ask local businesses to change their own bulbs to red, white, and blue.
A spokesperson says that was part of the annual winter lights program and that it is now over so businesses can decide on their own whether they want to change the lights back to their original color.

Busy waters can be dangerous and safety officials say inexperienced drivers on the lake cause the most problems. Officials say it's important to always wear a life jacket and keep plenty of extras on board... Maintain safe speeds and always leave enough room between boats when stopping. They also say it's a good idea to use large coves when water-skiing or tubing instead of busy channels.
