AmRhein Wine Cellars earned top honors at the Virginia Governor's Cup Wine Competition today.
Their winning vintage is a 2001 Viognier (vee-own-YEAH), described as "a fairly complex fruit wine with nuances of oak."
Russ Amrhein has been growing grapes on Bent Mountain for seven years.
He says Southwest Virginia is a great place to make wine.
