Transportation officials said that declining state and federal revenues forced VDOT to reduce their budget by two-point-eight billion dollars.

VDOT did, however, restore funding for three lane-widening projects on Interstate 81 which had been scrapped from a tentative plan last month.
The Board also approved speeding up construction of the Route 58 Hillsville Bypass and added three hundred thousand dollars for a curve-straightening project on Route 100 in Giles County.
Transportation officials said that the program is not perfect but is one that the state can realistically afford.

Roanoke officials say they WILL address concerns about traffic and parking near the site of the city's proposed stadium.
And today, they expressed the hope that a new lawsuit won't mean more delays for the project.

The Williamson Road Area Business Association and Farrell Properties filed suit on Wednesday. They're seeking an injunction to postpone work on the stadium until the city develops a traffic and parking plan.

Thousands in Eastern Arizona are getting ready to leave their homes- if a wildfire takes a turn toward them.

4-thousand have already left- The 60-thousand acre fire began Tuesday and grew immensely yesterday.
The city of Show Low is the biggest threatened by the blaze. It's about 125 miles northeast of Phoenix.
About 77 hundred people have been told to leave or be ready to leave with an hour's notice.

Experts say the best way to fight gypsy moths is for land-owners to work together, to make sure large areas are sprayed with insecticide..

In a six-to-three ruling, the court says executing the mentally retarded violates the Constitution, reversing a ruling made 13 years ago.
Today's ruling was in favor of Virginia death row inmate Daryl Atkins.
Atkins was convicted of a 1996 kidnapping and murder.
His lawyers say he has an I-Q of only 59.
That's equivalent to a 9 to 12 year old.

Five time Grand Prix winner Aaron Vale dislocated his shoulder riding two weeks ago. When rider or horse get hurt, they can come to this gentleman. Brian McLaren is an equine veterinarian and Australia's highest qualified acupuncturist both in humans and in animals.
McLaren is demonstrating his techniques at the horse show this week. He uses a torch with a beam of light to stimulate the skin at the injury point to trigger a specific healing result.
