A federal appeals court in San Francisco ruled yesterday that the pledge of allegiance is unconstitutional because it endorses religion with the phrase- "under God."
And locally- Reverend Jerry Falwell used harsh words to express his frustration with the court's decision.
Falwell called the judges who voted for the removal of the Pledge of Allegiance "dumb."

Stafford Delegate Bill Howell remains the only candidate to take over as the most powerful lawmaker in the General Assembly.
The 59-year old attorney and grandfather of five says he's more of a delegator than Wilkins and he'll be recruiting many of his colleagues to assist him with his duties.
Howell says his low key style may be the type of leadership the Republican party needs following the recent eavesdropping controversy and Wilkins' resignation.

Yesterday, construction crews installed the wind-mill on the "Dutch-Inn's" re-built banquet hall.
A fire last year destroyed the old wind-mill, which had been a fixture along "Business 2-20" in Collinsville for more than 30- years.
Each of the four new fiberglass blades weighs more than 6-hundred pounds.
There's still more work to be done on the inside of the new building, but the 3-million dollar re-building effort is expected to be finished by September First..

To refill the ponds... Holland says they need a downpour or cloudburst of rain. Another approach some farmers are taking is to dig up their dried up ponds.
