The F-B-I says it's not an act of terrorism .. but the Israeli government isn't so sure .. this after a shooting takes three lives at one of our country's busiest airports. It happened at the Los Angeles ticket counter of El-Al, Israel's national airline. Chris Lawrence is there with the latest.

But the shootings occurred at the ticket counter of Israels national airline. And one government official says hes seen it before, at airports around the world.

It seems like terrorism. It looks like terrorism.
Witnesses say a man walked up to a ticket counter for El Al Airlines. They say he carried a knife and gun, fired two shots at the counter and killed an Israeli woman working there.

Its no coincidence it happened at that time, in that place.
The shooter kept firing, as dozens of people scrambled for cover. He killed another man and wounded two others, including a security officer, until an El Al security guard shot and killed him.

Families were devastated. One of the victims was only there to wish his friend a safe trip to Israel.

We were getting our boarding passes when the shots rang out, maybe 100 feet from us.
Christopher Dundes took these digital photos seconds later. And he believes the figure slumped in the center may be the shooter. He says it was easy to get a gun inside.

Even if you check people at the door, someone could still attack outside at the curb. The Governor of California says security was not designed with this in mind, but theyre discussing ways to protect passengers in the future. Chris Lawrence CBS News Los Angeles. ))

Not far away from the airport, four people are dead after a small plane crashed into a Fourth of July picnic.

The twin engine plane smashed into the crowd trapping a 12 year old girl under the plane's wing- She died along with an adult and a 15 month old boy on the ground. The plane's pilot was also killed.
Authorities say the pilot had taken off from a nearby airfield- and sent two distress signals- after struggling to gain altitute.
Several others were injured- some critically-
There is one survivor who was aboard the plane- a passenger.
Authorites are not sure how many people were aboard the four seater plane.

Authorities believe a property dispute may have led a Halifax County man to murder his neighbors yesterday.
James Bryant Hudson is charged with killing three people.
As Joy Sutton reports, the suspect and the victims had been neighbors for more than a decade.

Relatives of two Georgia teenagers are asking for more than 4 million dollars in damages.
The teens were riding in the back of a pickup truck, when the tread came off one of its tires.
The truck veered into oncoming traffic at the Hollins exit on Interstate 81.
The accident happened one week before it became illegal for children under 15 to ride in pickup beds.

Eight firefighters in all had gone into this New Jersey duplex .. when the roof collapsed. Five got out, but three could not. A pair of three- year- old twins and their five- year- old sister were also killed.

Officials say the fire is being investigated as a criminal act.

This year's Star City Motor Madness featured hundreds of old and new cars decked out in red, white, and blue. So far, a local group has raised about a third of the 1 and a half million dollar price tag.

((As a chemistry major at Stanford, Chris O' Riordan earned the nickname "Cobalt" the 27th element on the periodic table. Like the hard metal, O'Riordan has many different uses.

Annika Sorentstam is gonna knock in the birdie to go three under on seven. Sorentstam has won six of 12 LPGA events this year and is looking for her first Open title since back to back crowns in 1995 and 96. She finsihd with an even par 70.
Laura Diaz get shte birdie putt on 14 to go 2 under.
Juli Inkster's chip in hits the pin on 12, she would par the hole. Diaz, Inkster and that gal, Shani Waugh are in a three way tie for the lead at 3 under.
