With the country under the threat of a terrorist attack on Independence Day, the man now identified as Mohammed Hadayet walked into the terminal for Israeli airline El Al with two pistols and a hunting knife...then opened fire.

SOT: Unnamed Witness

"Pow...pow...pow...it kept going on about 10 or 12 shots that's what I heard."
Panic swept through the terminal as travelers dove for cover. A ticket agent and a passenger were killed before two El Al security guards struggled with Hadayet and shot him to death.

SOT: Unnamed Witness

"He was beating the guy up, a few seconds later a security guard came up and shot the guy at really close range."
Hadayet, an Egyptian national, also went by the last name Ali. He carried two California driver's licenses, one of them listed July 4 as his birthday. Last night police raided his apartment. Neighbors said Hadayet ran a car service and his wife and two children had gone to Egypt for the summer.
Family members of the victims are still in shock.

SOT: Victim's Family Member:

"We love him very much, we're going to miss him."
Passenger Yaakov Aminov and ticket agent Victoria Hen were gunned down in the attack. Aminov left behind eight children and a pregnant wife. Police are calling the shootings an isolated incident but some family members are not convinced.

SOT: Aminov's Brother in Law

"This is a terrorist attack. They're hitting us back at home, now they're hitting us over here."

A Roanoke woman drowned last night at Smith Mountain Lake State Park.
Park manager Brian Heft says Lisa Otey was looking after a group of children swimming in the lake.
Heft says when two of the girls yelled for help, Otey jumped into the water.
She went under and didn't come up.
Otey was declared dead at the Bedford hospital.
Heft says the group was swimming in the picnic area of the lake, which is prohibited.
No lifeguards oversee the area, and there are several sudden drop-offs in that part of the lake.

Not a star in the East or a trumpeting herald but this damp spot, on this, the holiest site of the Jewish religion the last remaining wall of a temple destroyed more than two-thousand years ago.
Some Jews here believe it means, their saviour is coming.

(SOT Ultraorthodox man)

"It's written in what's known as Kaballah, Jewish holy books, that - in the age of time - when water is going to flow from the Temple Mount, it's a time of the revelation of the Messiah, for all peoples of the world.

(oncam-Western Wall to Dozier)

There is another explanation for this, but its a lot more mundane. Archeologists say the last time this happened, it came from a plumbing problem in the mosque complex up above.

(SOT Jon Seligman, archeologist)

By past experience - we would suggest that this is caused by some physical problem with one of the pipes, or something like that."
The Islamic religious authority is checking.
Theres another explanation some Jewish rabbis are offering here that their sacred wall is crying over so many dead, with so little hope in sight.

The world's biggest maze opened to the public today.
The 16- acre attraction was developed by using global positioning satellites.
The labyrinth has three entwined mazes, each more difficult to complete than the last.
The final level is said to be virtually impossible -- though a refreshment stand has been set up for those who do make it.
It took three years to design, despite the major effort in building it, the maze will be short- lived.
In September, it'll close so that the crop can be harvested.
