A portion of the highway between Bedford and Thaxton was closed this morning after a tanker truck tipped over in the eastbound lanes, spilling thousands of gallons of gasoline and diesel fuel. Throughout the day, haz mat crews were busy removing polluted soil from the site. State police estimate more than six thousand gallons of fuel spilled onto the ground. Officials will also be monitoring nearby wells for any groundwater contamination.

A white police officer in an L-A suburb has been relieved of duty- for hitting a handcuffed black teen in the face.

In an echo of the Rodney King Case- a passerby spotted what was going on and videotaped it.

As witnesses watch, an officer lifts him from behind and slams his face against the hood of a patrol car. Oohhhh! And about a minute later, the officer punches the teenager in the face. And his superiors are speaking out. LT. EVE IRVINE/INGLEWOOD POLICE: It is very disturbing what is depicted in that video. The department has suspended one officer with pay, alerted the DA's office and started an internal investigation. MITCH CROOKS/SHOT THE VIDEO: Its just disgusting. I mean, we all love our police officers and firefighters, but this has got to stop. This man was driving his 16-year old son Saturday when LA County deputies pulled them over. The mans registration was expired and deputies arrested him for driving on a suspended license. When Inglewood Police officers arrived to help, they got into an altercation with the teenager, who was booked for resisting arrest.
LT. IRVINE: Officer Morse received lacerations to his knee, lacerations to his elbow, lacerations to his left ear. The boys lawyer says he is a special education student. JOE HOPKINS/FAMILY ATTORNEY: Hes not even mentally capable of what the police are saying he did to them. When they slammed him on that car, he was already not only handcuffed, but out of it. We begin with a little local baseball news. It was a high scoring blowout for the Frederick Keys tonight, as they topped the first place Lynchburg Hillcats 11 to 3.

It was perfect baseball weather, as we take a trip to Merritt Hutchison Stadium this evening.
The Keys get a fast lead in the top of the first, as outfielder Mamon Tucker pops this one up. It's an easy out, but check out Eli Whiteside sliding in to put the Keys up by four.
It's time for the home team to retaliate. In the bottom of the first, Hillcats' Ray Navarrete launches this one deep into left field, it's a homerun. Keys still on top, however, 4 - 1.
To the bottom of the third. Hillcats' third baseman Yurendell De Caster plows this one for an equally impressive homerun.

The man most considered to be the odds on favorite to win the thing didn't even make it out of the first round. In fact, Barry Bonds hit just three homers before exiting the competition. Sammy Sosa hit 12 homers in the opening round and five more in the second to easily advance to the championship round.
Sosa hit more than six of his homer in excess of 500 feet - this one went out into the street. But he ran out of gas in the finals and lost to the Yankees Jason Giambi. The New York slugger hit 11 in the first round, six in the second and beat Sosa 7-to-1 in the title round to claim this year's homerun derby title.

UVa's road opener at Florida State on August 31st will kickoff at 3:30. The athletic department also annonced today that the following week, the Cavs home contest with South Carolina will get underway at 7:45 at Scott Stadium, and the September 21st homecoming game against Akron will begin at 3.

The 13th annual Roanoke College lacrosse camp has taken over part of the school's campus and water supply this week.

230 kids are working on their game during three sessions a day at the college. Coach Bill Pilat gives the campers a mix of instruction, scrimmaging and lectures. He also is giving them plenty of liquid refreshment. This counselor has devised a contraption that looks like a bug exterminator, but he is spraying ice cold water not insecticides. Hydrating the kids is number one on the list.

It is that time of year again- the time when models don the latest in Fashion and strut the runways of Paris.

It is the time when top designers unveil their latest creations.
While you may not want to wear these at home- some of the outfits were definitely head turners.
Some had accessories covering their faces in lace-
while others wore a different kind of face covering- and many of the outfits had oversized collars.
Other models sported big denim jackets with billowing taffeta skirts.
Outlandish headgear included giant feather headdresses and oversized fur trapper hats-
This is just the beginning- Fashion week kicked off in Paris today.
