Today prosecutors relied on a former inmate at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail to fill in the gaps. As Deputy Betterton's family sat nearby-- Marty Hicks told the court while the two were incarcerated together Roy Inge Junior confessed to shooting and killing Deputy Betterton.

A former counselor at a crisis center for teens admits he raped and molested girls in his care.
Jimmy Lee Jones WAS a relief counselor at the Sanctuary Crisis Intervention Center in Botetourt County.
Today, he pled guilty today to charges of rape, sodomy, carnal knowledge and giving alcohol to minors.
Prosecutors say four girls in his care were victimized.
Jones faces up to life in prison when he's sentenced October 31st.

A New Jersey woman faces charges for a late morning accident on Interstate 81.

State Police say 38-year old Anna Soto (SOE-toe) of Weehawken, New Jersey was traveling south around 11:45 when her 1993 Nissan Pathfinder ran off the left side of the road, through the median and overturned several times before coming to rest in northbound lanes. No other vehicles were involved in the wreck. Soto, an 11-year old girl and 13-year old boy were airlifted to Roanoke Memorial hospital. A 38-year old man, also from New Jersey, was taken to the hospital by ambulance. He is in stable condition. Soto's listed as serious. State police have charged her with reckless driving and failure to maintain control of her vehicle. There's no word on the condition of the children.

8-year-old Jackie Holden disappeared from her Shipman home in February of 2000.
She was found dead three days later.

He was indicted last fall after embezzling more than 18-thousand dollars from the fund.

The Roanoke Express signed two more players today. Left Wing David Silverstone played in the Ontario Hockey League last season for the Belleville Bulls and in 125 games amassed 394 penalty minutes.
Defenseman Doug Schueller played in the ECHL last season with Macon and Jackson and had a short stint with the AHL Utah Grizzlies. The Express has now signed six players.
