An explosion at a Rocky Mount industrial plant sent two men to the hospital ... one of them with life-threatening burns.

It happened just before one at the (Row-nile) Ronile plant.
The plant's owner says workers were servicing a boiler when it exploded.
John Gregory -- an outside contractor-- suffered burns to more than 80 percent of his body and is in critical condition.
(Row-nile) Ronile employee Jeff Jones had burns to his face and lungs and is in fair condition.
Both went to U-V-A Medical Center's burn unit.
At the time of the blast, about 80 of the plant's 250 workers were inside.

In April, the nine term democrat was convicted of racketeering, bribery, and tax evasion and faces several years in prison.
Traficant remained defiant insisting on his innocence.
Last week the house ethics committee recommended his expulsion last week and backed it with testimony on the floor.
The only lawmaker voting against Traficant's expulsion was Gary Condit of California.

That's because policy-makers aren't sure the state can afford them.
Architects and engineers are now trying to re-calculate the costs.

About 150 wild ponies hit the water at Assateague Island and swam 80 yards across a channel to Chincoteague.
50 thousand tourists looked on.
Yearlings and younger will be auctioned tomorrow to thin the herd and raise money for the town's volunteer fire department.
Firefighters care for the animals all year long and drive the ponies into the water for the swim.
Ponies that aren't sold will swim back Friday to roam free for another year on a national wildlife refuge.

Punishment was supposed to be fixed today for the teenager but the hearing was continued after the boy's parents revealed they have hired a new attorney to represent their son. Salem attorney Jeff Dorsey will now represent the teenager-- who was found responsible for setting two fires. The judge hearing the case says he'll also be appointing a guardian to represent the teen. The judge says he wants a lawyer to assure decisions made by the boy's parents are truly in the teenager's best interest.

Thousands of people gathered at the Crystal Cathedral in Orange County, all to remember the 5-year old whose abduction and murder shocked a neighborhood ..and a nation. The district attorney stayed away from the funeral so he wouldn't become too personally involved. On Monday he charged Alejandro Avila with murder, kidnapping and committing forcible lewd acts on Samantha Runnion. Avila says he was at a shopping mall when Samantha was abducted, and will enter a plea early next month. Samantha was abducted during daylight from her mothers apartment complex. The next day a man discovered her body on the side of a road and called 911. I think its that little girl from the news!
