Another boiler was brought back on line yesterday, so the plant could run again.

Henry County's former administrator is scheduled for sentencing tomorrow .. on charges he stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from the Public Service Authority.

Sid Clower pleaded guilty June 24th to three counts of stealing money from the authority .. by ordering that checks worth hundreds of thousands of dollars be issued to a fictitious company he created. He could face up to 60 years in prison. Defense lawyers intend to present an accounting of all the good things Clower did as the authority's general manager and county administrator.

A Roanoke County plant played a crucial role in the rescue operation of the nine coal miners who were trapped in Pennsylvania.

Ingersoll-Rand assembled and delivered the drill and drill bits that dug them out.
After ANOTHER company's drill bit broke on Friday, plant employees scrambled to get THEIR equipment up to rescuers.

The plant laid off hundreds of workers in 2000, but about 40 remain to assemble the drilling equipment.
The facility's Engineering and Marketing director says "Everybody in the facility is real proud to know we contributed to the success of the operation."

A local church's prayer chain is credited with helping save a stranger's life.

Recently a woman from Illinois emailed the prayer chain threatening to commit suicide.
That is when area church members sprung into action.

The Craig County Fire Department recently received a gift that will save them thousands.

Last week, the community of Simmonsville was given a 1977 fire truck by the City of Salem.
Rather than sell the trucks it no longer needs, a spokeswoman for Salem says officials would rather give the trucks away. If Simmonsville were to buy a new truck it would set the community back at least 2-hundred thousand dollars.
