And today Governor Warner traveled to a Roanoke County farm to see the effects.

The drought that has hit all of Virginia has a firm grip on the Poage family farm.
Poage runs a dairy and vegetable farm in Roanoke County.
It's the first time in 50 years he'll have to buy feed to get his cows through the winter... at a cost of 40-thousand dollars.
This year, he says, he'll be lucky to break even.

Giles County officials will meet tomorrow night to add up the cost of flood damage....

County Administrator John Talbott says the figures could be as high as 3-million dollars. Emergency personnel and public service officials will attend the meeting to submit their estimates. Flash flooding hit the area hard and fast in the early morning hours last Friday....bringing more than five inches of rain. About 300 homes and businesses were damaged. The area also suffered a water main break and had to ask residents to conserve.

A Lynchburg teenager is still in critical condition after being shot in the head last night.

It happened around 10:30 in the 900 block of Fifth Street.
Police officers were in the area when they heard several gun shots being fired.
That's when they discovered a 16-year-old boy lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his head.
He was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital.

A Lynchburg man charged with the city's first murder of the year will undergo a psychiatric evaluation to see if he's fit to stand trial.

47-year-old Randall Lee Langford is accused of shooting to death 51-year-old Loretta Lynn Napier in March.

Police say Langford and Napier were longtime friends.. they haven't discussed a motive for the shooting.
Langford was scheduled for a preliminary hearing this morning, but it was continued at the request of his attorneys so he can be evaluated.
A new hearing is set for October.

The psychiatric evaluations of Appalachian School of Law shooting suspect Peter Odighizuwa are in ... but sealed ...
Last month a judge ordered him to undergo evaluations by two experts. Today his defense attorney says the findings are in and that they both reach the same conclusion. A hearing is scheduled for next Thursday in Buchanan County Court. The judge will determine if Odighizuwa is fit to stand trial. He is facing capital murder charges for the January shooting deaths of three people at the Appalachian School of Law

A Galax woman is charged with embezzling more than 86- thousand dollars from her employer. 43-year-old Linda Kyle was indicted Monday. The Carroll County Commonwealth's Attorney says she worked in the offices of Kentucky Derby Hosiery and had access to the checks. The embezzlement is alleged to have occurred every month from November 1999 to April of this year. Kyle is out on bond. No court date has been set.
