The fire at 1330 Thomason Road Southeast broke out around 4:40 this morning. Fire crews quickly brought the flames under control. A neighbor says Jim and Marion Reynolds lived in the house with their 36-year old son, Greg, who is being treated at the UVA Burn Center for extensive burns. The Reynolds and two children were also treated for a variety of injuries including first and second degree burns and smoke inhalation. The fire was contained to an upstairs bedroom. Damage is estimated at thirty thousand dollars. Another fire also in Roanoke, earlier this morning, displaced a couple and killed several of their pets. Investigators say the blaze at John and Judy Chambers' house at 1812 10-th Street Northwest was accidental, caused by an electrical malfunction. A relative says fire crews were able to save a couple dogs but that a handful of other animals could not be rescued.

The home is considered a total loss. The families in both cases have insurance.
