Franklin County's Director of Public Safety has turned in his resignation ... after being charged with drunk driving over the weekend.
State police say Claude Webster was arrested after crashing his car through a fence Saturday afternoon.
No one was injured -- but a breath test showed Webster's blood alcohol content was twice the legal limit.
In February, he was placed on administrative leave for threatening a patron with a gun at a Wendy's drive thru.
Webster was Franklin County's Public Safety Director for nearly 8 years.
Bennie Russell, Deputy Director and Fire Marshall for the county, has been named Acting Director.

He suffered injuries to both his face and feet and he broke his back.

The 32-year old actor is best known for his role in the television
series Beverly hills 90210.
He's been racing on an off since 1991, but lately he has been
concentrating on driving open wheeled cars similar to those used in the
Indy Racing League.
They are smaller and not as powerful.
Many drivers say Priestley is a good driver.
The day before the accident Priestley admitted he needed more
experience in the car.

"I AM REALLY WORKING HARD TO GET AS MUCH EXPERIENCE AND GET AS MUCH SEAT

Dave Lauriski (Lor-iss-kee) was in Somerset, Pennsylvania, last month to help oversee the rescue of nine men trapped for more than three days in a coal mine.
He says the rescue has brought new and positive attention to an industry that has traditionally suffered from a bad reputation.
